Chef Michael Smith

Canada's premier flavour advocate, family man, and unhygienic giant Chef Michael Smith will be Abroad again this fall.  My guess is the pressures of being At Home and At Large have finally caught up with Michael and he wants to grow that pony-tail out, step into some chef pants and stare at things in other countries.  Chef Abroad will air on the Food Network this fall on Fridays at 11pm and 3am.  Sweet time slot Michael.  Flavour.

Chef Michael Smith. My feelings towards you are undetermined. Sometimes I think I want to punch you in the face; your eyes creep me out. Other days, I long to have a beer with you by the water while you carefully grill some steaks on an open flame. Despite what I feel about you, one thing is for sure. As the credits roll at the end of your program, I find myself wanting, needing, more. Congratulations to you Michael, as you will soon be at large yet again. It is time to leave your razor at home, braid the pony tail, and embark on culinary experiences all over the world. I look forward to watching you crowd kitchens, piss off chef’s, and say the word flavour 30 times an episode. Unfortunately, your primetime 11pm air slot, will never, ever, make this possible.

I too share a double-edged fascination with chef-giant of the glint eye. Great blog! ~ Meegis

Michael Smith is adorable in EVERY sense of the word! I loved him from the moment I discovered him on reruns of Chef at Large only a month or two ago; (this is now Dec. 2016). Even though the shows are 13-14 years old, I just love them and, as someone who hates to cook, I wish I'd found him years ago. Maybe his engaging episodes would have inspired me to look at cooking differently...
